Review Gunday :
A big Protest as a Bangladeshi
Dear Mr. Chopra. As I couldn't find any Facebook verified page of you, I had to tag your production house instead. Usually I'm a great fan of your father. Extremely feeling sorry after watching your latest film GundayTheFilm. In which film you have clearly mentioned Bangladesh as a byproduct of Indo-Pak war of 1971. At least we the Bangladeshi people didn't this kind of poor/valueless statement backed by extremely poor research work, from your films. As being a Bangladeshi , I strictly oppose this type of information to be used in Indian films. To be very honest, you have your right to put values regarding Indian nationalism in your films. But how it could be logical, when by the time of showing yourself 'Hero', you humiliate others? We the Bangladeshi people are (except few others) still thankful to India for your heartfelt contribution as a strong striking force against the Pakistani militant. We still respect Mrs. Indira Gandhi and her government, for her support towards the refugees and all other many things during that time. But does it allow you to call that war a Indo- Pak war, where our nation's birth was nothing but a coincidence? To be very honest, after 47, the unrest between India and Pakistan might influenced India to stretch their hand to our people for help. The war our people started months ago, Indian army got involved into it. So, still do you think it is logical to call 1971 war a simple Indo-Pak war? Hope you will understand. Gunday was not only a regular masala film, which grabbed some historical fact also. Your research team, I think, need to be more careful on those issues. You will agree obviously, Bollywood films are not only India film nowadays, as those films are getting global acceptance also. Moreover if this kind of showcasing continues from India, it will be tough to make the new gen people believe that someday India was our Friend Nation, not a humiliating or self-esteemed one.
I expect your wise action on this matter. Please don't judge a Bangladeshi be weak by his/her humbleness.
A BIG MISTAKE: In showcasing the timeline of 1972, you have used the current uniform of Bangladesh Police. Which point also proves a week ground work for Gunday.
