Review As Above, So Below :

Neither above, nor below

Lame, pathetic, and an incompetent effort. The movie is shot with a hand-held shaky cam that can give you a good headache. The plot is a straight lift-off from a combination of Rec and The Descent, both very good movies. Even then, the story managed to have too many holes–big enough to fly an A380 through. There are several meaningless things and people in the movie that have no relevance and contribute nothing to the story. Even worse is the fact that no effort is made to give any explanation for them toward the end. If that's not poor direction and writing, I don't know what is. The title of the movie doesn't mean anything. The writer probably wanted to conceptualize the plot on polarity of heaven & hell, which would've been brilliant if done properly, but completely messed it up.

All actors are B-grade, but have done an okay job. No complaints there. They did what they could. The only areas where some decent job has been done are sounds and photographic color/lighting. If the shaky camera is forgotten for a moment, one can say that the photographer has some skills, but such a praise would be an obvious exception considering the work of rest of the crew.

MY VERDICT: This is really a C-grade effort, so over-criticizing would be doing injustice to this movie. But, while a half-hearted effort can be excused, an incompetent one must not be. This director is known to make such low grade movies in the same genre. This is, I think, his fourth such effort–and a fourth successive failure. AVOID!
